2. Leni Robredo

Initially hesitant to run for public office when her husband late Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo died, Leni was convinced after she was told winning a government seat will assure the continuation of her late husband’s advocacies and legacy.

After serving one term in Congress, she was catapulted as a last-minute vice presidential candidate of the Liberal Party in the 2016 elections. However, she once stated that she would rather have stayed with alternative law group SALIGAN (Sentro ng Alternatibong Lingap Panligal), whom she had served for ten years.

In June, Leni said that anything is possible for 2022. She reiterated that the presidency is a matter of destiny and that it is useless to prepare for that. She is keeping her options open. But her top priority, for now, is addressing the country’s problems through her flagship anti-poverty program Angat Buhay.
