The Christmas spirit brightened the Davao de Oro Provincial Capitol on Monday night as the provincial government lit its first giant Christmas tree, symbolizing unity and strengthened community partnerships for better governance.

Gov. Raul Mabanglo, in a news release on Tuesday, emphasized that the tree symbolizes joy and togetherness, particularly for the children of the province.

“This symbolizes hope for our families, the youth, and the entire province. Especially to our children—the hope in your eyes is our inspiration to better serve the province,” he said.

He added that the event demonstrates the province’s openness to collaboration, encouraging everyone to work together in fostering hope and shared goals for a more progressive Davao de Oro.

Davao de Oro 1st District Rep. Maricar Zamora-Mabanglo echoed the governor’s statement, saying the Christmas tree stands as a beacon of optimism and motivation.

“We are here to give inspiration and hope to everyone,” she said in a separate statement.

Meanwhile, Davao de Oro 2nd District Rep. Jhong Ceniza emphasized the importance of collective action in driving development forward.

“If we work hand in hand, big development will take place. Your trust is our anchor in doing our best to serve you,” he said.

The lighting ceremony marked the official start of Paskohan sa Kapitolyo, which features a month-long Foodfest, a Children’s Christmas celebration on Dec. 25, and a New Year’s Countdown on Dec. 31. (PNA)
