Four barangays in the Davao del Norte town of Sto. Tomas town stand to benefit from a PHP192-million road connector with bridge project funded by the Department of Agriculture- Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP) 11.

In a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday, DA- PRDP program director Abel James Monteagudo said Barangays New Visayas, Bobongan, Balagunan, and Tulalian will directly gain from the 7.9-kilometer rehabilitation of the New Visayas–Tulalian farm-to-market road with two bridges.

“Residents of the four barangays will see a better future, especially for the farmers as they waited for this project for more than five years, believing that road accessibility will boost their economic condition,” Monteagudo said.

He also thanked the provincial government for not giving up on the project for the benefit of its residents.

Likewise, Governor Edwin Jubahib said the project could bring great benefits to improve the economy of the four villages and the entire province as well.

Jubahib recounted that it took them five years to comply with all the requirements needed for the project.

He urged residents of the four adjoining barangays to plant high-value crops to help them increase their income. (PNA)
