At least 252 beneficiaries from 22 barangays in Agusan del Norte’s town of Lass Nieves received their payments under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program on Monday.
The release of the TUPAD payments, amounting to PHP1.3 million, was facilitated through the Office of Sen. Grace Poe, in coordination with the Department of Labor and Employment.
“The local government unit of Las Nieves is always ready to help, especially for those whose sources of livelihoods were deeply affected by calamities and other difficult situations,” Mayor Karen Rosales said in a statement.
The beneficiaries each received PHP5,250 for rendering 15 days of community service in their barangays this month.
Rosales also lauded residents of the 22 barangays for their services, which demonstrate their continued support for the government.
“We are looking forward to more collaborations in the implementation of programs and services that will benefit the people of our town,” she said.
The TUPAD program aims to provide emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers for a minimum period of 10 days, but not to exceed a maximum of 30 days, depending on the nature of the work to be performed. (PNA)
