In commemoration of Pride Month this year, an Instagram video went viral showing a rainbow artwork at the historical Arc de Triomphe in Paris, which confused netizens about whether it was real or not.

On June 2, video artist Ian Padgham posted footage showcasing one of the historic landmarks in Paris designed with a massive rainbow to celebrate Pride Month.

“Happy #pride2023 to everyone, everywhere. Love is love, you are beautiful, and I am so proud to live in a world where we are fighting so that everyone can live their life exactly as they are,” Padgham said.

Along with the said post, the artist even mentioned two known LGBT personalities, thanking them for helping install the artwork.

It may be good to be true, but the said artwork was not real and was made through digital art.

According to an international fact-checking website, the artist disclosed that the footage was edited with special programming to make it look real.

Padgham was not new to making such realistic-like videos, as his Instagram account also contains videos with gigantic figures on famous places that he edited using special effects.

The artist said that this is his way of showing poetic and surrealistic art to the community.

Despite this, individuals were still debating if this digital artwork was ethical considering that the historical monument commemorated war soldiers and heroes.
