President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is focused on bringing “significant and tangible” changes to the country in his remaining years in office.

In the latest episode of his podcast aired on Saturday, Marcos said giving Filipinos a more comfortable life is the legacy he wants to leave behind when his term ends in 2028.

“We’ve made a change for the better. This has been my guide in all the positions I’ve taken,” he said.

“So, I absolutely insist that in 2028 when I leave this office, there are significant and tangible changes for the better and the life of a Filipino.”

Marcos is eyeing a quarterly assessment of government performance as part of his efforts to recalibrate his administration.

He earlier announced a “more rigorous” performance review extending beyond the Cabinet level.

The ongoing performance evaluation covers not just Cabinet secretaries and government heads but also the government undersecretaries.

Marcos said he would not hesitate to let go of incompetent government officials.

He emphasized that he would not let the “worst thing” happen, wherein Filipinos would not feel the changes under his leadership.

“The worst thing that can happen is umupo ka doon sa posisyon mo na nagsilbi ka, umalis ka, walang pinagbago (you sat in the position, you served, you left [but] nothing changed),” Marcos said. (PNA)
