An additional 18,754 patients have beaten the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), pushing the country’s overall recovery count to 1,829,473 as of Wednesday.

The Department of Health (DOH), in its latest Covid-19 bulletin, said recoveries account for 91.3 percent of the total 1,829,473 infections since the start of the pandemic last year.

Another 14,216 new cases and 86 new deaths were also recorded. These figures bring the overall tally of active cases to 140,949 and the death toll to 33,533.

The latest figures showed 96.1 percent of the active cases are mild, 1.1 percent are asymptomatic, 1.2 percent are severe, 1.03 percent are moderate, and 0.6 percent are in critical condition.

“There were 118 duplicates removed from the total case count as 91 of these are recoveries and one death. Moreover, 37 cases previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” it said.

DOH data on August 30, likewise, showed that 26.4 percent of 51,473 who were tested turned out positive for Covid-19.

All laboratories were operational on August 30 and five laboratories were not able to submit their data to the Covid-19 Document Repository System (CDRS).

Based on data in the last 14 days, the four non-reporting laboratories contribute, on average, 4.3 percent of samples tested and 3.1 percent of positive individuals.

To date, 73 percent of 4,200 intensive care unit beds, 66 percent of 20,700 isolation beds, 71 percent of 14,900 ward beds, and 55 percent of 3,200 ventilators dedicated to patients with Covid-19 are in use nationwide.
