Pangasinan’s provincial government will donate PHP1.3 million to the victims of typhoons Ramon and Ursula that devastated several provinces late last year.

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (Provincial Board) authorized Governor Amado Espino III “to donate from the calamity fund for the provinces of Cagayan, Eastern Samar, and the City of Roxas for its relief recovery and rehabilitation,” reads Provincial Resolution 601-2020.

In an interview Thursday, Board Member Angel Baniqued Jr. said thousands of families in the affected areas would benefit from this “humanitarian endeavor” of Pangasinan.

“A financial assistance of PHP250,000 each will be given to the province of Capiz and Roxas City, PHP500,000 for the province of Cagayan, and PHP300,000 for the province of Eastern Samar,” he said.

“Ramon” devastated Cagayan in November, while “Ursula” hit the Visayas region in December, damaging farms and infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Pangasinan also extended food and non-food relief aid to displaced residents of Batangas due to the eruption of the Taal Volcano.

The provincial government sent 12 vehicles carrying relief goods to Batangas accompanied by a 78-man humanitarian team on January 16. (PNA)
