The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) 11 (Davao Region) reaffirmed its commitment to empowering farmers and strengthening irrigation communities during the 14th Irrigators’ Associations Congress here on Wednesday.

The event, running until Nov. 6, gathered more than 350 participants, including farmer-beneficiaries and representatives of partner agencies.

In his speech, NIA Administrator Eduardo Eddie Guillen emphasized the participatory foundation of NIA’s work.

“We discussed various issues and listened to the farmers’ suggestions. It’s important to revisit the core principle of NIA, which always promotes a participatory approach,” he said.

Guillen added that the congress strengthens the shared dream of a more productive agricultural community.

NIA-11 acting regional manager, engineer Dexter Sablaon, said the congress fosters strong partnerships with irrigators’ associations.

Regional Confederation of IA’s vice president Mario Tiburcio expressed gratitude for the annual event, highlighting its impact across the Davao Region.

With the theme “Bagong Bayaning Magsasaka: Kaagapay ng NIA at Ibang Ahensya sa Pagsulong ng Makabagong Irigasyon at Likas-Yamang Agrikultura,” the congress underscored convergence among government agencies and farmer organizations. (PNA)
