The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) on Monday said the planned expansion of NephroPlus, Asia’s largest dialysis network, will significantly improve renal care access while stimulating the country’s healthcare economy.

Currently operating 39 dialysis centers nationwide, the Indian healthcare firm aims to open 150 clinics by 2028, a move announced following President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s official visit to India from Aug. 6 to 8.

“NephroPlus’ expansion brings more than new clinics, it delivers hope to thousands of Filipinos who rely on regular dialysis,” DTI Secretary Cristina Roque said in a statement.

“By investing in technology, training, and local manufacturing, they are not only creating jobs but also building a stronger foundation for our healthcare economyAbout 1,000 job positions are expected to be opened with the expansion, with areas eyed to include “underserved” provinces and locations with high prevalence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in the country.

“When we open more doors to healthcare, we open more doors to inclusive growth,” Roque said.

The DTI chief, meanwhile, said the company’s move complements the “Bagong Pilipinas” vision of the Marcos administration, which seeks to bring “life-saving services” closer to Filipinos, especially in disadvantaged areas.

“This partnership shows how the private sector can help us bring quality care to every Filipino, wherever they are,” Roque said.

Besides the target tripling of workforce, the NephroPlus is also set to deploy artificial intelligence (AI) treatment monitoring alongside the launch of clinical research in dialysis services. (PNA)
