On January 21, 2026, Bonifacio Global City marked a milestone as the Manila Portal officially opened to the public, becoming the first Portal installation in Asia. Launched along 5th Avenue at Bonifacio High Street, the structure transformed a busy urban space into a live gateway connecting Filipinos with people across the globe.

Now operating 24/7, the Manila Portal links in real time with existing Portals in Vilnius, Lublin, Dublin, Philadelphia, and Ipswich, with new locations in Piauí, Brazil, and other countries set to follow. Through the livestream, everyday moments, smiles, and spontaneous exchanges unfolded between strangers separated by thousands of miles.

For Portals Organization founder Benediktas Gylys, the Manila opening signaled a meaningful expansion of the initiative’s vision. He described the first Portal in Asia as a powerful step toward a world connected by direct human encounters rather than borders, highlighting Manila’s warmth and strong sense of community as a natural fit.

Bonifacio Global City also emphasized the Portal’s role in fostering connection and cultural exchange. BGC Chief Operating Officer Enrique B. Manuel Jr. shared that the installation created a new space where the local community could engage while proudly sharing Filipino culture with the world.

Unveiled during an opening ceremony on January 21, the Manila Portal quickly became a point of quiet fascination, drawing people to pause, look up, and connect. Made possible through the support of Excell Contractors and Developers Inc., Euroasia Marble & Granite, Habitus Design Group, United Neon, CMC Contract Manufacturing Pte Ltd., and other sponsors, the installation now stands as a lasting symbol of shared presence.

More than a digital screen, the Manila Portal is an open invitation, one that reminds passersby that human connection can begin with something as simple as a glance or a wave.
