Ronald Joseph, a Filipino IT manager based in Singapore, recently showcased his musical talents by winning the top prize on an episode of “I Can See Your Voice Singapore” wherein he secured a prize of SGD 10,000 (Php 430,000).

A Mystery Singer With A Dream

Competing under the stage name “Living The Dream”, Joseph outshone five other contestants as he successfully convinced Singaporean celebrity singer Rahimah Rahim and the panel of celebrity and guest detectives of his exceptional singing ability.

During the episode, Ronald first performed a lip-sync rendition of “Alone” by Heart, keeping his true vocal abilities hidden until the final moment. When he finally sang live, his heartfelt performance of “Sleeping Child” by Michael Learns to Rock, along with a duet of “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” by Queen with Rahimah Rahim, cemented his victory and left audiences in awe.

Joseph’s musical journey is deeply personal, intertwined with his relationship with his late father. Born out of wedlock, he met his father for the first time at 22, and their shared love for karaoke became the foundation of their bond.

His personal narrative on the show – “Carrying his dad’s dream to the stage while teaching his kids to follow their own” – resonated with the viewers and made his win even more meaningful.

Despite his evident talent, Joseph’s road to recognition was not without challenges. He had auditioned for multiple singing competitions in the Philippines, including Star for a Night and Pinoy Pop Superstar, but never made it through.

I Can See Your Voice Singapore marked his first successful entry into a televised competition proving that perseverance and passion can eventually lead to triumph.

Since 2019, Joseph has been working as a Process Manager for an IT company in Singapore while pursuing his passion for music. Beyond the corporate world, he has built a strong online presence, regularly hosting live performances on TikTok (@smallbird_e), where he connects with fellow Filipino workers in Singapore.

Through his heartfelt renditions, he brings comfort and joy to his audience, turning music into a shared experience that transcends borders.
