Department of Tourism (DOT)-accredited hotels in this city have launched the staycation program on weekends to revive the local tourism industry.

However, Sarita Sebastian, city tourism officer, said Wednesday that only fully vaccinated families or individuals can avail themselves of the staycation program.

“The staycation is a program that allows fully vaccinated families or individuals to stay in hotels or resorts accredited by the DOT,” Sebastian said.

“They can enjoy the staycation program on weekends,” Sebastian added.

She said the implementation of the staycation program is also to encourage residents to submit themselves for inoculation aside from reviving the local tourism industry.

City Health Office data showed that 663,786 individuals have received their Covid-19 vaccines as of November 21.

Of the total, 410,940 individuals have received their first dose while 252,846 residents got their second dose of vaccines, out of the 694,696 target eligible population.

Meanwhile, Sebastian said 20 resorts with business permits have been allowed to open on Sundays only to accept fully vaccinated customers.

The local Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) has lifted the Sunday lockdown for fully vaccinated residents effective November 14. (PNA)
