Three flood control projects amounting to PHP80 million will soon secure flood-prone villages in the towns of Kitcharao and Remedios T. Romualdez (RTR) in Agusan del Norte.

“We see the needs of the people of the three barangays, especially in their protection in times of typhoons and floods,” Agusan del Norte (2nd District) Rep. Dale Corvera said in a statement Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Corvera led the groundbreaking ceremonies for the three projects in the area, two of which will be constructed in Barangays Balang-Balang and San Antonio in RTR amounting to PHP25 million each, as well as in Barangay Crossing, Kitcharao, costing PHP30 million.

Corvera said the projects will also benefit the residents of adjacent barangays, especially those included in the list of flood-prone areas.

“In the two villages in RTR, the flood control projects will also protect the rice farms of our farmers,” he said, assuring that efforts are being made for additional funding to extend the flood control projects in the two towns. (PNA)
