A Filipino woman in Kuwait tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), the Philippine embassy in Kuwait confirmed on Thursday.

“The Philippine Embassy in Kuwait regrets to inform the Filipino community that a female domestic worker is the first confirmed Filipino case of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 in Kuwait.,” it said in a statement.

The Filipina domestic worker reportedly had close contact with a person who traveled recently to the United Kingdom.

The embassy said the patient is now in a “stable condition” and that the Philippine government continues to monitor her case.

Meanwhile, the embassy also reminded all Filipinos in the Gulf state to stay at home, follow the instructions of Kuwaiti authorities, and stay healthy.

In a separate bulletin, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported that a Filipino also contracted the disease in Macau.

The patient, who is a non-resident worker in Macau, is the 15th case of Covid-19 infection recorded in the Chinese special administrative region.

The Consulate General in Macau remains in close contact with the local authorities on the details of the patient’s travel history, the DFA said. (PNA)
