The Malilay sisters are taking the Jiu-Jitsu world by storm. Eliecha Zoe and Ellise Xoe have been making strides in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, both receiving the Global Filipino Award in recognition of their outstanding contributions to Filipino sportsmanship on the international stage. They are now set to receive The Global Filipino Icon Award 2025, which will be held on April 5 at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Dubai.

Inspired by their father’s encouragement to explore martial arts, Eliecha and Ellise began their Jiu-Jitsu journey in 2019. Their dedication and passion for the sport quickly translated into prestigious achievements. In November 2024, Eliecha secured a gold medal at the JJIF Ju-Jitsu World Youth Championships in Heraklion, Greece, in the Women’s U21-Gi -45kg division, along with a bronze in the Women’s U21 -45kg Gi category. Meanwhile, Ellise earned a bronze medal in the Women’s U18 -40kg Gi division.

The sisters’ success continued, with Ellise claiming gold at the 2024 Abu Dhabi World Youth Jiu-Jitsu Championships, adding to her already impressive record, which included a gold medal in the 40kg purple Gi division at the same tournament the previous year.

In December 2024, the sisters were honored by the Senate of the Philippines for their outstanding performances in international Jiu-Jitsu tournaments. Now named among the 12 finalists for The Global Filipino Icon Awards 2025, this accolade stands as a testament to their hard work, resilience, and the unyielding spirit of Filipino athletes making their mark on the world stage.
