The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has prepared 31,702 family food packs to be distributed to requesting local government units (LGU) whose areas were affected by Severe Tropical Storm Neneng.

Based on the data obtained on Monday, there are also 12,654 non-food items and 5,102 bottled drinking water on standby at the satellite warehouses of the DSWD Ilocos regional office as of Oct. 17.

The DSWD said it has standby funds or quick response fund worth PHP8 million.

“The municipality of Marcos is still able to manage the needs of the affected population but requested child and women-friendly space kits for their evacuation center. LGU Dingras already provided family food packs and would like to request family food packs, sleeping kits, hygiene kits, and family kits for the affected families,” it added.

There are 1,912 affected families or 7,327 individuals in Ilocos Norte and one family in Ilocos Sur.

Some 21 houses have been partially damaged and one totally destroyed while there were two reported injured persons due to the weather disturbance.

“The municipality of Adams, Ilocos Norte is isolated due to road erosion and as of date experiencing a power outage,” the DSWD added.

Neneng brought heavy rains and winds into extreme Northern Luzon on Sunday.

Some areas in the country will continue to experience scattered rain showers and thunderstorms even as Typhoon Neneng already exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), the weather bureau said Monday. (PNA)
