Some PHP3.1 million in seed capital funds (SCF) has been distributed to 17 Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) associations in Davao Oriental, the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Davao Region (DSWD-11) said Thursday.

In a statement, DSWD-11 said the funds are specifically allocated for developing selected micro-enterprise projects. These include livestock raising, sari-sari store operations, and other local businesses suitable for their respective communities.

“DSWD-11 continues to strengthen Filipino families’ livelihoods by offering opportunities for a productive life,” the agency added.

The initiative aims to provide program beneficiaries with a stable source of income and help them gradually achieve self-sufficiency.

A total of 302 individuals will directly benefit from the provided capital, mostly women, Indigenous Peoples (IPs), solo parents, and members of other vulnerable groups.

“SLP is not only about providing capital but also about offering knowledge, skills, and guidance to help grow the associations’ businesses and ensure their sustainability,” DSWD-11 said. (PNA)
