A total of 5,562 residents in Davao del Sur and Davao Occidental are receiving financial assistance under the Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food, and Transport (UPLIFT) program during a payout on Thursday, the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Davao (DSWD-11) said in a public post.
Of the number, 2,558 Group 2 beneficiaries came from Don Marcelino, Davao Occidental; 2,059 from Magsaysay, Davao del Sur; and 945 from this city.
Under the initiative, qualified recipients classified under Group 2 — comprising poor and near-poor households not currently enrolled in the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) — are entitled to monthly cash assistance of PHP2,000.
Alongside the cash distribution, beneficiaries underwent registration for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) or National ID, and were assisted in opening official savings accounts through partner institutions.
“The simultaneous delivery of services brings government programs closer to the beneficiaries. It also facilitates access to financial services for them,” DSWD-11 said.
DSWD-11 said it continues to deliver assistance and services to families in need, particularly to sectors that require the most support from the government.
The UPLIFT program forms part of the DSWD’s continuing efforts to strengthen social protection and ensure that vulnerable communities receive timely and comprehensive assistance. (PNA)
