The Department of Agriculture in the Davao Region (DA-11) distributed PHP49 million worth of yellow corn seeds and fertilizer to farmer beneficiaries across the region.

The initiative aims to bridge the gap between supply and demand for corn processors, said DA-11 agriculturist Reynaldo Bermillo in an online post on Monday.

DA-11 conducted orientations on the Yellow Corn Production Enhancement Program from March 18-28 in several municipalities, Bermillo said.

“This intends to raise the production of yellow corn, boost the supply for feeds, and make corn producers in the region more competitive,” he said.

DA-11 also provided beneficiaries with information on the correct use of seeds and fertilizer, the roles of government units, and the challenges faced by farmers.

“We also encouraged each cluster organization to update its members’ status and provide their cluster development plan for next year’s interventions,” Bermillo said. (PNA)
