The Cagayan de Oro Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation, Inc. (Oro Chamber) has expressed support for President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s Pabahay Para sa Pilipino Housing Program (4PH), which aims to provide affordable housing for low-income families.

In a statement Wednesday, Oro Chamber President Avalyn Cahulogan affirmed the group’s commitment to advancing the President’s housing agenda.

“As the influential voice of business in Cagayan de Oro and Northern Mindanao, we are here to lead the business sector in supporting the 4PH program of the President,” Cahulogan said.

The Oro Chamber has launched the Housing and Construction Congress and Expo in partnership with the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD). The event, aimed at addressing the country’s housing shortfall, runs from Nov. 12 to 14.

DHSUD-10 Assistant Director Rey Niog said limited availability, high costs and the need for secure housing solutions are among the region’s housing challenges.

He pointed to factors such as rapid population growth, rising land prices, infrastructure deficiencies and the prevalence of informal settlements as barriers to affordable housing in the region. (PNA)
