Minimum wage earners in the Bicol region will receive a PHP20 increase in their daily take-home pay effective Thursday.

In a statement, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 5 (Bicol) Director and Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) chairperson Ma. Zenaida A. Angara-Campita said the salary adjustment is the second tranche of the increase under Wage Order 20 that was issued by the board on June 18.

The first tranche of PHP35 took effect on the same date.

With this, Campita said the new daily minimum wage for workers in Bicol will be PHP365.

“This wage increase shall apply to all minimum wage earners in the private sector in the Bicol region, regardless of their position, designation, or status and irrespective of the method by which their wages are paid,” she said.

Campita said the adjustment of the minimum wage rate is one of the measures of the government to provide workers with immediate relief from the high prices of basic goods and services brought about by inflation.

The RTWPB is composed of DOLE, the National Economic and Development Authority, the Department of Trade and Industry, and representatives of the management and labor sectors. (PNA)
