A mobile soil laboratory is reaching out to various parts of Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte to provide on-site soil testing and analysis.

The municipal government of Pagudpud, led by Mayor Rafael Ralph Benemerito, confirmed Tuesday that the on-site testing has been extended for two days to accommodate more farmers.

“Don’t miss this opportunity to know your soil better,” the Municipal Agriculture Office said in a statement Tuesday, enjoining farmers to bring soil samples to the Pagudpud Cultural and Sports Complex.

After the Pagudpud leg, the mobile laboratory will visit other parts of the province to conduct similar testing and analysis.

The Department of Agriculture (DA) 1 (Ilocos Region) stated that results will be used to update the regional soil fertility map and guide farmers on proper fertilizer application.

This initiative is part of the DA’s national soil health program, implemented through the Bureau of Soils and Water Management to boost agricultural production.

The mobile laboratory evaluates soil chemistry, physical structure, microbiology, and water quality to provide tailored recommendations on fertilizer type and timing.

Farmers receive specific guidance through soil health reports and soil cards to improve overall land productivity and health conditions.

The mobile unit is currently deployed across Ilocos Norte, where experts are conducting sampling, testing, and capacity-building activities for local stakeholders. (PNA)
