Dingdong Avanzado got candid about his insecurities as a father and his hopes for daughter Jayda’s future in showbiz during an emotional episode of Jeepney TV’s hostless talk show “Stars on Stars.”

In a heartfelt one-on-one conversation, Dingdong admitted that there are moments when he wonders if Jayda truly appreciates everything he does for her.

He revealed that his advice, which oftentimes seems critical, comes not from a place of judgment, but from love and the desire to see her grow.

“Minsan hindi ko alam kung na-appreciate mo what I do for you… I don’t say those things to put you down—I say them because I want you to be better,” he told her, visibly emotional.

Dingdong also shared that he and his wife, Jessa Zaragoza, initially hoped to protect Jayda from the pressures of the entertainment industry.

“Ang industriyang ito ay industriya ng walang katapusang pagpapatunay ng sarili mo. You always have to outdo your last performance. We wanted to spare you from that,” he said.

But they eventually accepted that her passion and talent were too strong to ignore. Dingdong said, “‘Yan ang ibinigay sa’yo ng Panginoon. And who are we to stop you from using your gifts?”

Jayda, deeply moved by the conversation, acknowledged her father’s wisdom and affirmed that she values the lessons passed down to her.

“I do appreciate it—lalo na ‘yung wisdom ninyo. I know it comes from a deep place, from the struggles you and mom went through. Ayaw niyong maulit ko ‘yung mga pagkakamali niyo,” she said.

Jayda also asked her dad how he coped with watching her go through heartbreak, “Was there ever a point during my heartbreak where your heart broke too?”

“Every time your heart breaks, my heart breaks,” Dingdong answered. “Hindi mo man sinasabi lahat, pero alam ko—because I know how you love.”
