A month-long art exhibit featuring the works of 11 local artists from Surigao City is now on display at the city hall lobby, running until Feb. 28 as part of the city’s celebration of National Arts Month.

Organized by the Surigao City Tourism Office, the exhibit aligns with this year’s theme, “Ani ng Sining, Diwa at Damdamin” (Harvest of Art, Spirit, and Emotions), which underscores the connection between art, emotions, and cultural identity.

“On display are 32 artworks from Surigaonon artists of Guhit Pinas Surigao, showcasing their creativity and deep cultural roots,” said Roselyn Merlin, city tourism officer, in an interview Monday.

The featured artists include Kent Fornis, Euridean Econar, Roshanne Mharc Dagondon, Norbert Odtojan, Jessa Mae Handaya, Jhonblyn Guangco, Edilberto Daligdig, John Rey Felecio, Ella Lalaine Villanueva, Neil John Mordeno, and Len Russel S. Regala.

Surigao City Vice Mayor Alfonso Casurra, representing Mayor Pablo Yves Dumlao II, led the exhibit’s formal opening.

“The city government takes great pride in supporting local artists and nurturing the city’s vibrant art scene,” Merlin added.

The public is encouraged to visit the exhibit and show their support for Surigao’s homegrown talents. (PNA)
