The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) 11 (Davao Region) distributed some 1.1 million family food packs (FFPs) in 2024.

According to agency data posted on Facebook Monday, the FFPs distributed were valued at PHP600 million. Additionally, more than PHP26 million in non-food items were dispensed.

Meanwhile, 303,288 individuals received emergency cash assistance and 118,631 families benefited from the Lawa at Binhi program.

Projects LAWA (Local Adaptation to Water Access) and BINHI (Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished) creates climate and disaster-resilient communities for sustainable development through the construction of water reservoirs to help farmers meet the challenges of the dry spell.

“The Disaster Response and Management Division of DSWD plans and implements measures to assist communities during disasters. It aims to provide immediate support to victims through relief operations, rehabilitation, and future disaster preparation,” the agency said in an online post.

Other data showed 412,031 regional beneficiaries received assistance amounting to more than PHP2.3 billion, consisting of food assistance worth PHP1.07 billion, medical assistance worth PHP996.7 million, and other support.

“For 2025, the agency will continue to help individuals or families in crises for their medical assistance, burial, transportation, education, food, or financial assistance for other support or needs,” the DSWD-11 said. (PNA)
