Filipino Chef Myke “Tatung” Sarthou was awarded the “Best Celebrity Chef Book in the World” title for his cookbook “Simpol Dishkarte” by the Gourmand World Cookbooks Award in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in November 2024.

In a social media post, Chef Tatung expressed his surprise upon receiving the good news. “I’m so overjoyed and filled with gratitude in my heart because we just got word, nanalo naman tayo ng isa pang international award para sa ating Simpol Dishkarte Cookbook,” he said.

He also thanked the awarding body, his team, and the readers who passionately support him.

“I’m overwhelmed with emotion as I extend my deepest gratitude to the World Gourmand Award for bestowing upon me the prestigious title of ‘Best Celebrity Chef Book in the World’. This culinary odyssey has been a labor of love. To my dedicated team and passionate readers who made this possible, you have my heartfelt thanks,” his caption reads.

Chef Tatung of Simpol is a celebrity chef, restaurateur, and online creator known for his simple recipes and cookbooks many Filipinos love. His best-selling books include “Rice to the Occasion”, “Simpol The Cookbook”, and “Simpol Kitchen Secrets”.

He is the founder of Vertikal Kreatives, a fast-growing food creative agency and publishing company, and owner of dining restaurants such as Pandan Asian Cafe in Tomas Morato, Tatung’s Private Dining in Antipolo, Lore Manila in BGC, and Azadore in the Scout Area.
