Tala, the pioneering fintech company serving the Global Majority, recognizes the critical role of financial literacy in advancing financial inclusion. Addressing the demand for enhanced financial education locally, Tala Philippines launched TALAkayan, a workshop series, in collaboration with financial literacy advocate and money expert Salve Duplito.

The workshop aims to impart essential money management skills and provide participants with practical tools for their financial endeavors. To address the needs of diverse audiences, the workshop was designed to be interactive. It was made even more effective by showcasing a variety of examples and scenarios that audiences can relate to and find relevant to their everyday lives.

Recently, some of the latest TALAkayan workshops were held with CCT (Conditional Cash Transfer) beneficiaries in Pasig City, and with women and mothers in Quezon City. Aspiring entrepreneurs and MSME (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) owners gathered at the Trinoma Activity Center in Quezon City for the 13th edition of TALAkayan on July 13.

During the event, Duplito provided valuable insights on effective budget allocation, debt management, and fundamental concepts in investing and launching a business. Moritz Gastl, the General Manager of Tala Philippines, said, “I cannot emphasize enough the importance of financial literacy and education in achieving your goals and unlocking your full potential.”

“Whether it’s to start your own business, support the needs of your family, or achieve financial stability, awareness of basic finance and budgeting concepts is key to managing your finances better,” he added.

An exhibit featuring products from 17 local brands and enterprises, presented by Iskaparate Network and Teleradyo Serbisyo’s (DWPM Radyo 630) show, Panalong Diskarte, was organized to motivate more Filipinos to embark on entrepreneurial ventures and to encourage consumer support for local MSMEs. Attendees were provided with vision boards to help them map out their financial journeys, offering practical strategies to achieve their goals.

Tala is committed to advancing financial literacy and education nationwide, aiming to bridge the financial divide for the Global Majority and unleash their economic potential. Tala is a global tech company focused on making financial services accessible to everyone. They offer online credit to help those without traditional banking options, having provided over 40 million loans totaling $4 billion to 8 million people across three continents.
