At least 1,272 families affected by fire incidents here since 2021 received assistance from the National Housing Authority in Davao Region (NHA-11) on Friday.
The beneficiaries received PHP10,000 per family under the agency’s Emergency Housing Assistance Program (EHAP). Senator Christopher Lawrence Go led the distribution to the beneficiaries, who were victims of conflagration from 2021 to March 2023.
The beneficiaries came from Barangays Vicente Duterte, Ilang, Tibungco, Panacan, 23-C, Agdao Proper, Gov. Paciano Agdao, 76- A, Matina Apalaya, Talomo, Sto. Nino, Tugbok, Mintal, Toril, Mandug, 21-C and 22-C.
Go’s office funded some PHP20.8 million in EHAP to be provided to Davao Region residents whose homes were destroyed for a variety of reasons such as typhoons, floods, earthquakes, fire, industrial accidents, terrorism, or armed conflict.
“You were chosen as the beneficiaries because we have seen how you suffer from the incident. Your houses were damaged, and you can use the amount for you to buy housing materials,” Go said.
The senator also distributed bicycles, volleyballs and basketballs, shoes, food and grocery packs, vitamins, and face masks to the beneficiaries.
NHA-11 Manager Clemente Dayot said the agency will give assistance to families affected by fire incidents in Davao del Norte (60), Davao de Oro (132) and Davao Oriental (623).
“We hope that the amount will help you in your housing needs and what your family needs,” he added.
Meanwhile, Mayor Sebastian Duterte thanked the national government for the help given to Dabawenyos.
“We thanked that there are national officials who personally came to our city and extend help,” he said. (PNA)
