Athletes of the Philippine Army (PA) dominated the “Race for our Heroes” triathlon conducted and hosted by the Philippine Fleet Sangley Point, Cavite on November 30.

“The PA Triathlon Team bagged three team championship awards: Overall Team, Overall AFP-PNP-PCG (Armed Forces of the Philippines – Philippine National Police – Philippine Coast Guard) Triathlon Team, and Super Sprint Relay,” Army spokesperson Col. Xerxes Trinidad said in a statement Friday.

Trinidad said the PA triathletes also ruled individual events with Private 1st Class (Pfc.) Robinson Esteves emerging as champion in two categories: Super Sprint Advance Category and Fastest Male Category.

Esteves’ teammate, Staff Sgt. Reynaldo Navarro, meanwhile, ruled the 40- to 50-year-old age category while Sgt. Lord Anthony del Rosario and Technical Sgt. Allan P. Racines placed second and third runners-up, respectively, in the 26- to 40-year-old age category.

Special Service Center Director, Col. John Oliver Gabun, lauded the Army’s triathlon team for showcasing the service’s brand excellence in the AFP-wide triathlon competition.

Gabun commended the PA Triathlon Team, telling them to continue training and sustaining their winning momentum in upcoming competitions.

A total of 200 participants joined the triathlon, which aimed to raise funds for troops who died in the line of duty. (PNA)
