As residents reel from the catastrophic effects of Typhoon Paeng, ABS-CBN Foundation Inc. (AFI), in coordination with local government offices and civic groups, donated relief packs and hygiene kits to 27,000 individuals or 5,400 families all over Luzon, including Barangay Pagyaba in Masantol, Pampanga.

In a “TV Patrol” interview, one resident said that they are still unable to return to their normal lives because the flood in their area has not subsided, making them worry for their children’s health and safety.

With the help of Masantol’s Municipal Social Welfare and Development (MSWD) Office, AFI successfully distributed sacks of rice and canned goods to the affected residents.

With the help of local youth group United Team Bantay, AFI has also reached 400 evacuees in Kawit, Cavite who lost their homes and livelihoods because of the typhoon.

AFI managing director Berta Lopez-Feliciano assured the public that ABS-CBN Foundation will always strive to lend a hand to those who are in need.

“Huwag kayong mawalan ng pag-asa kasi maski na hindi kami nandyan kaagad, makakarating pa rin kami. Tutulong kami hanggang kaya namin,” said Lopez-Feliciano.

Ernie Lopez, AFI’s director of Advocacy, also said that they are thankful for the trust of the donors. “Lahat ng mga pinapamigay namin galing din sa taumbayan. Nireredistribute lang naman namin yung mga binibigay sa amin. Nagpapasalamat kami pinagkakatiwalaan kami na i-distribute yung goods.”

As of writing, the ABS-CBN Foundation reached families in Sariaya, Quezon (200), Masantol, Pampanga (800), Nagcarlan, Laguna (400), Magdalena, Laguna (400), Infanta, Quezon (381), Real, Quezon (619), Mulanay, Quezon (800), Gumaca, Quezon (566), Atimonan, Quezon (234), Novelita, Cavite (600), and Kawit, Cavite (400).
