Baguio City has started listing the names of minors in preparation for the rollout of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccination campaign for the youth.
Aileen Refuerzo, Public Information Office (PIO)-Baguio chief, in an interview on Monday night, said the city government opened the registration for those aged 15 to 17 that generated 3,441 who registered with the bakuna.baguio.gov.ph site from Oct. 14 to 17.
The city also started the registration for those aged 12 to 14 last Oct. 22, Refuerzo said.
She said the registration for the pediatric Covid-19 vaccinees is in preparation for the expected rollout in other regions of the country following the pilot vaccination in Metro Manila.
The national Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) began the vaccination of immunocompromised members of the pediatric group last October 15 to give the sector protection from the virus.
The national government began the pilot rollout of the pediatric jab in several vaccination areas mostly in hospitals located in Metro Manila.
She said parents and guardians of those eligible populations from the said age group must first register with the city’s online portal bakuna.baguio.gov.ph for their inclusion in the list and wait for the announcement of the rollout in the city.
As of October 23, the city has given the full-dose vaccine to 176,727 while 241,797 have received the first dose and waiting for their second shot of the Covid vaccine of the eligible population who are 18 years old and above.
Base on the 2020 census of population by the Philippine Statistics Authority, there are 366,000 residents in Baguio. (PNA)
