The Surigao del Sur town of Cantilan will implement starting July 1 stricter quarantine measures to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in the municipality.

Cantilan Mayor Maria Carla Lopez-Pichay issued Executive Order No. 15 on June 26 prescribing more stringent guidelines for persons entering the town starting Wednesday.

“With the influx of local-stranded individuals from different parts of the country, positive cases of Covid-19 have emerged in the Municipality of Cantilan,” Pichay said in the order.

The town now has three Covid-19 cases as confirmed by the Department of Health- Caraga Region (DOH-13).

Pichay said the order applies to all individuals except those included among the Authorized Persons Outside Residence (APOR).

All persons who intend to enter Cantilan starting Wednesday shall be asked to present at the established quarantine checkpoints a medical certificate duly issued and signed by a government physician.

The medical certificate shall stipulate that the person is not a contact, suspect, probable, or a Covid-19 patient.

For individuals coming from outside the province of Surigao del Sur, they will be asked to present additional documents such as a travel authority issued and signed by the chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in the area of origin.

Aside from the APOR, individuals who will only pass by Cantilan on their way to other places shall also be exempted from complying with the order provided that they shall present at the designated checkpoints agency or company identification cards or certificate of employment. (PNA)
