The Department of Social Welfare and Development office in Northern Mindanao (DSWD-10) on Thursday facilitated the completion of 516 families under the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).

A total of 294 households in Medina, Misamis Oriental, and 222 households in Sapad, Lanao del Norte, were declared self-sufficient by DSWD-10 after exiting from the 4Ps.

In a program, Sapad’s chief municipal social worker, Jessica Reyes, said the completion of the beneficiaries’ work is considered a milestone in upholding their commitments to the program.

“This event honors the success of every graduating beneficiary and their commitment to building a better future for their families and the community,” he said.

In Sapad, an additional 10 kilograms of rice and a pack of grocery items were given to the completers, while the municipal agriculture office distributed a variety of seeds to support the families’ sustainable development and ongoing progress.

Meanwhile, in Medina town, each family received 5 kilograms of rice and a variety of vegetable seeds from the Department of Agriculture.

The 4Ps is a poverty reduction strategy and a conditional cash transfer program implemented to break the intergenerational cycle of poverty by investing in human capital.

The program provides direct cash grants to extremely poor households, contingent on meeting specific health, nutrition, and education conditions. (PNA)
