The country’s overall tally of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) recoveries have reached 1,452,813, with 3,257 new recovered cases reported on Thursday.

According to the Department of Health (DOH), the figure is equivalent to a 94.9-percent recovery rate out of a total of 1,530,266 infections since the start of the pandemic last year.

The DOH also tallied 5,828 new confirmed cases, bringing the total number of active cases in the country to 50,562.

Of the active cases, 92.7 percent are mild, 1.6 percent are asymptomatic, 2.5 percent are severe, 1.74 percent are moderate, and 1.5 percent are in critical condition.

The DOH also logged 17 new fatalities, raising the death toll to 26,891.

The DOH said 11 duplicates were removed from the total case count as eight of these are recoveries.

Meanwhile, 15 cases previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

According to DOH data on July 20, about 12 percent of 47,869 who were tested turned out positive for Covid-19.

All laboratories were operational on July 20 while five laboratories were not able to submit their data to the Covid-19 Document Repository System (CDRS).

Based on data in the last 14 days, the five non-reporting laboratories contribute, on average, 0.3 percent of samples tested and 0.4 percent of positive individuals.

To date, 54 percent of 3,500 intensive care unit beds, 47 percent of 19,500 isolation beds, 43 percent of 12,100 ward beds, and 37 percent of 2,800 ventilators dedicated to patients with Covid-19 are in use nationwide.

In Metro Manila, 44 percent of 1,100 intensive care unit beds, 40 percent of 4,700 isolation beds, 34 percent of 3,500 ward beds, and 33 percent of 1,000 ventilators dedicated to patients with Covid-19 are being used. (PNA)
