The Department of Agriculture Caraga (DA-13) granted PHP4.3 million to two farmers’ organizations through its Enhanced Kadiwa Program, officials said Wednesday.
The Caraga Cacao Organization (CACAO) Incorporated received PHP4 million, while the Maningalao-Lingayao Agriculture Cooperative (MALICO) obtained PHP300,000.
DA-13 Regional Executive Director Arlan Mangelen presented the checks Tuesday at the agency’s Butuan office.
“The Enhanced Kadiwa Program aims to empower farmers and fisherfolk organizations by providing financial support to strengthen local food supply chains, market access, and community enterprise development,” DA-13 said in a statement Wednesday.
CACAO Incorporated said it uses the funds to augment its capitalization and acquire a Melanger machine for cacao processing.
The group also plans to purchase a four-wheeled vehicle to facilitate product deliveries and expand its market reach.
Meanwhile, MALICO said it will use the PHP300,000 grant as additional capital for its corn trading operations.
“The Enhanced Kadiwa Program is a government initiative designed to support agricultural enterprises and improve food distribution networks in local communities,” DA-13 said. (PNA)
