The Bataan Inter-Agency Task Force on Covid-19 (IATF) on Wednesday reported that there are now 14 positive cases of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in the province.

Governor Albert Garcia, also the IATF chair, said as per report of provincial health officer, Dr. Rosanna Buccahan, the youngest patient is a 13-year-old male from Barangay Dangcol here.

“The teenage boy was hospitalized Wednesday for appendicitis but was found positive of the virus when subjected to swabbing,” the governor said.

The IATF report showed that Balanga City registered the highest number of confirmed cases at six, including city administrator Rudy de Mesa who died in a Pampanga hospital last Friday. He was the first Covid-19 death in Bataan.

The towns of Samal and Limay have two cases each while Orani, Abucay, Orion and Mariveles have one positive case each of the dreaded disease.

Garcia also announced the good news that PH529, male, 55, of Orion town has recovered, bringing to three the number of those who have been discharged from the hospital.

The other two are PH64, male, 32, of Orani and PH303, male, 24, from Limay. The three of them are undergoing post-admission quarantine in a facility designated by the Department of Health.

“After 14 days, they will be again tested,” the governor said.

The task force, in its Wednesday report, said there are 4,492 persons under monitoring (PUMs), 745 patients under investigation (PUIs) with mild symptoms and 93 PUIs with moderate to severe symptoms in the province. (PNA)
