The provincial government of Dinagat Islands is facilitating the release of pertinent documents of 110 seasonal workers who are set to fly to Pyeongchang County, South Korea in mid-July.

Jhon Philip Tan, the executive assistant of Governor Nilo Demerey Jr., said in a statement Tuesday that the deployment of seasonal workers to South Korea is among the priorities of the provincial government to help the farmers and fisherfolk improve their economic conditions.

“Aside from their work, the workers will also learn about the advanced agricultural and fishing technologies in South Korea which they can apply here on the island when they come home,” Tan said.

The workers attended a pre-departure orientation seminar held at the provincial capitol in San Jose town on Monday.

On April 11, a total of 68 seasonal workers from the island province were sent to Pyeongchang County to work and study.

The deployment is based on a memorandum of understanding signed by Demerey and Pyeongchang County Mayor Sim Jae Kook on Nov. 21, 2022.

The agreement ensures the deployment of at least 2,000 seasonal farm workers to Pyeongchang County to work and learn for a year. (PNA)
