The city government here achieved the highest single-day vaccine count on Tuesday with 1,160 administered doses of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines.

The number surpassed the recorded highest single-day vaccination on Monday with 1,064 doses inoculated, and 640 doses on July 23.

City information officer Jhuliano Nazareno said the city government aims to inject over 6,000 doses of the Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccine supply allocation from the Department of Health to qualified individuals under the A2 priority group, or the senior citizens.

As of July 26, some 2,545 senior citizens have been fully vaccinated in the city.

“Inaasahan na sa pagtatapos ng linggong (ito), tataas sa mahigit 8,000 senior citizens na ang magiging fully vaccinated mula sa 18,000 na kabuuang bilang ng senior citizens sa siyudad. (It is expected that after this week, the number of fully vaccinated senior citizens will increase to over 8,000 out of the 18,000 total of senior citizens in the city),” he said in a statement.

San Carlos City has six operational vaccination sites wherein the local government unit targets to inoculate at least 1,000 individuals per day depending on the vaccine allocation.

Meanwhile, health authorities urged the public to get vaccinated once the vaccine becomes available to them to boost their defense against the threat of the Covid-19 Delta variant. (PNA)
