Last April 02, 2019, the Light Rail Manila Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) officially lifted the banning of any liquid items inside their trains as a response to heighten the security measures and safety of the passengers after the Jolo Cathedral bombing in Sulu last January 27, 2019.
Passengers can now bring in bottled waters and even perfumes, hand sanitizers and lotions of over 100ML in volume capacity which used to be confiscated before entering the train as a directive of the PNP and NCRPO.
In their social media accounts, the LRT-1 made the lifting of the ban official although the management had already lifted it last February 20, 2019.
“Sa lahat po ng aming mga minamahal na pasahero, epektibo mula ngayong ikalawa ng Abril 2019, lifted na ang pagbabawal sa anuman inumin o likido sa loob ng #LRT1”
Although the ban was lifted, the LRT management stated that stricter security measures will be implemented.
Liquid items used to be banned because of chemical substances which could be harmful to the passengers.
