A Korean restaurant owner expressed her sentiments after PHP 300,000 worth of meat and groceries were gone to waste due to the government’s last-minute announcement of community quarantine in Metro Manila.

Inchang Mendoza’s post on Facebook went viral after she directly addressed the government for pushing through the guidelines that the NCR will stay under strict modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) until September 15.

Mendoza who has been waiting for their re-opening on Wednesday was dismayed after hearing the news that the pilot implementation of the GCQ was hampered.

“Yung nagpa-meeting ka, tapos nagpa-general cleaning na rin para nga sana bukas! At bumili na rin ng daan-daang kilong pork, chicken, and beef (pero) ending last minute ia-announce na MECQ ulit,” Mendoza wrote on a now deleted Facebook post.

“Dear Government, maawa naman kayo sa mga taong sobrang naapektuhan na nagtatrabaho ng maayos! Sa totoo hindi ako naawa sa sarili ko dahil may pang fallback akong shopee, naawa ako sa mga employee ko na hindi na makapag-trabaho ng maayos!!!” she added.

Meanwhile, Manila City Bureau of Permits Levi Facundo also expressed his view towards the national government’s decision to put Metro Manila in MECQ once again.

“Think thrice,” Facundo posted on Facebook urging the government to solidify any announcement to avoid drawing confusion and wasting time and effort.

“Minamadali ko ang mga staff ko kanina. They had to drop other things for this. But actually, I’m not in favor of their guidelines. It does not make sense anymore. I want business to open,” Facundo said.

“Examine before proposing. See if the plan is bulletproof. Plan ahead… It’s not like all these happened only last night. It’s been 16 months!” he added.
